Description
The SciAps X-550 Pb Desktop Test Stand converts your handheld XRF analyzer into a stationary desktop XRF testing system and hands-free handheld XRF test stand.
The stand securely mounts the analyzer below an enclosed sample chamber so materials can be placed inside and measured without holding the instrument by hand. This improves measurement stability and makes testing small parts, powders, jewelry, and prepared samples much easier. The enclosed sample chamber allows operators to safely test bagged samples, cupped samples, powders, and small metal parts without holding the analyzer.
An interlocked lid disables the X-ray beam when opened, providing an additional level of protection during stationary testing. Integrated cooling fans help maintain stable operating temperatures during longer measurements or when testing many samples.
The stand also supplies continuous AC power to the analyzer so it can operate without relying on battery power, with your power adapter connected.
This setup allows operators to use the handheld XRF as a compact desktop testing system while still maintaining the portability of the instrument.
Desktop stands are mostly purchased for:

Why Use a Test Stand
- Why Use a Desktop Test Stand
- Holding a handheld XRF analyzer during testing can introduce small variations in angle and distance that affect measurement consistency.
- A desktop test stand removes these variables by fixing the analyzer in a stable position while samples are placed beneath the measurement window.
- This improves repeatability and allows operators to test:
- Small metal pieces
- Powders and prepared samples
- Thin materials
- Jewelry and coins
- Samples requiring longer test times

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a desktop XRF test stand do
A desktop test stand holds the analyzer in a fixed position below a sample chamber so samples can be placed on top of the measurement window for stable, hands free testing.
Why use a desktop stand instead of holding the analyzer
A stand improves measurement consistency, allows longer measurements, and makes testing small samples easier.
Is the stand safer than handheld testing
The enclosed chamber includes an interlocked lid that disables the X-ray beam when opened, providing an additional safety layer during stationary testing.
Can the analyzer run continuously in the stand
Yes. The simply connect your SciAps X-550 Pb to with AC Power so the analyzer can run continuously without relying on batteries.
