Within stainless, 316 commands a premium over 304. Duplex grades command a premium over standard austenitic. High-performance alloys like 317L or AL-6XN have specialty markets willing to pay well above commodity stainless pricing, but only if the material is correctly identified and separated.

Within copper alloys, the difference between high-grade copper, brass, and bronze is well understood. Less understood is the spread within brass grades. Yellow brass, red brass, and specialty copper-zinc alloys all price differently in refined markets.
